What is slightly interesting is that some are previously unreleased.

It amazes me how the label's continue to find unreleased versions of 50+ year old recordings.

CD set in hands.
Described here (with full artwork): https://musicbrainz.org/release/fb69c13e-c1d4-4680-aa36-1f6c 437015b9

My evaluation:

CD1: claimed to be identical to original album, but, as usual for all the reissues:
- Slippin' and Slidin' has net length 2:40 instead of 2:25 on original LP;
- She's Got It has net length 2:24 instead of 2:09 on original LP.
And all the tracks, except 11, are overamplified.

CD2:
01. Tutti Frutti (take 2) 1:30 - 6CD/1-20 (net 2:21) but STRONG edited (almost by half! WHY??) and w/out slate
02. True Fine Mama (incomplete) 1:09 = 6CD/2-10
03. Can't Believe You Wanna Leave (take 6)* 2:25 - FIRST ISSUED
04. Can't Believe You Wanna Leave (take 8 ) 2:23 = 6CD/4-14 but without slate
05. Ready Teddy (take 1)* 1:33 - FIRST ISSUED
06. Ready Teddy (takes 2 & 3)* - slate, FIRST ISSUED F/S 2 (3.5 sec. only) & take 3 (1:50) = 6CD/3-15 but with slate absent on 6CD
07. Baby (demo) 4:17 = 6CD/1-1
08. Baby (take 1) 2:21 = 6CD/2-9
09. Slippin' and Slidin' (demo)* 1:46 = 3CD/1-15 but slightly extended at end (circa 4 additional sec. of strong faded chords)
10. Slippin' and Slidin' (piano & drums demo) 1:58 = 6CD/2-1 (1:53) but very slowed-down (4.6%)
11. Long Tall Sally (take 1) 2:01 = 6CD/2-17
12. Long Tall Sally (take 6) 2:07 = 6CD/2-19
13. Miss Ann (demo) 1:43 = 6CD/2-4
14. Miss Ann (take 1) (of version 2) 2:29 = 6CD/2-7, but w/out slate
15. Miss Ann (take 6) (of version 1964): guitar f/s (0:03), chat, slate 6 & take (2:24) - 6CD/6-8 but MONO, faded-out by 10 sec. and w/out chat at end
16. Oh Why? (takes 3 & 4)* - slate, FIRST ISSUED F/S 3 (2.1 sec. only) & take 4 (2:05) = 6CD/3-9
17. Oh Why? (take 9) - slate & take (2:04) = 6CD/3-10
18. Rip It Up (take 1)* - rehearsal: FIRST ISSUED CHAT (15 sec.), three short f/s (up to 3 sec.), 4th long f/s (0:17), slate 1 (mistakenly repeated twice, first time with shortest starting sound of 5th f/s), short 5th f/s (2.1 sec), chat (20 sec.) = LP Subway 55185/A10,11,12 (but no first chat and no mistaken duplication on LP); almost entirely (w/out chat & 1st f/s) issued on 3CD/2-11 (first 37 sec. of track)
19. Rip It Up (take 3) - slate & take 3 (2:14) = 6CD/3-23
20. Rip It Up (take 4)* - chat, slate & take 4 (1:20 - short, but finished) = LP Subway 55185/A13 (not on boxes)
21. Rip It Up (take 6)* - FIRST ISSUED slate & take 6 (3:05)
22. She's Got It (alt. version) 2:28 - 6CD/4-18 (2:26) but slightly extended at end (by 2 sec.)
*Previously unreleased (as stated in tracklist)

So, from claimed SEVEN first issued takes we have: THREE first issued takes (03, 05, 21), one take (20) first issued on CD (and generally on official release), two first issued short false starts (2-3 sec.), one first issued chat. And one track (01) is mutilate for unknown reason. Evidently, all the tracks are overamplified.

(Here "6CD" is ABOXCD1; "3CD" is Specialty 3-CD box SPCD 8508 of 1989, also named "The Specialty Sessions"; Subway 55185 is a bootleg LP of 1985.)

Probably the guys from Craft Recordings who compiled this CD did hold (such as 99% of ABOXCD1 owners) that 3CD was simply an extraction from 6CD. Or even they are unsuspicious of its being...

Wow, great work. Can not imagine to afford the time + concentration for such an investigation.

Kind regards, Olaf

Thank you Olaf.

Same work was already done for almost all Little Richard's releases, including albums, singles, bootlegs and important compilations. I can share this info here, if someone will take interest in.

Formerly same work was done, during years, for almost all releases with Jerry Lee Lewis' Sun recordings and for all surviving Sun studio tapes, for the Bear Family 18-CD boxed set released in 2015, look at included poster:
