Hi all,

There is a TV listing from 1975 in the Wiki for a show called Rock Dreams. Richard apparently lip syncs to two songs:-
*I Saw Her Standing There
*The Lovesick Blues

I've found a review in, of all places, the The Milwaukee Sentinel, for the 8th Aug, 1975, that would suggest the show was called Night Dreams and Richard performed not two but three songs:-
*I Saw Her Standing There
*The Lovesick Blues
*I Saw What You Did

Beau, Paul - this ones right up your ally. Any thoughts?

Glenn

W-w-w-w-what? "I Saw What You Did"? The show I rcall had "Love Sick Blues" and "I Saw Hr Standing There", lip-synced.

I wonder if that third song was actually performed, then deleted, before the info. got to the press.

The Dick Clark Show of '73, which had "GGMM", "Tutti Frutti" and "(I Can't Gt No) Satisfaction", was written up in TV Guide as including "Slippin' And Slidin'", as well.

If LR did "lip-sync" that third song in '75, there's a possibility he cut it at an indpendent session as a music bed, as he did with "(There's) No Place Like Home", c. 1988.

Yes, "I Saw What You Did" is listed in The U.S.A. Copyright Register, so maybe it was planned/prepped as a new Little Richard record?

Thanks, Man-From-Down-Under, in the words of Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden, "another gem!".

Beau

Hi Glenn,
Yes, like Phil, I seen the show and it included only the two tracks. The third song was likely filmed and deleted from the telecast. This often happens with many entertainers. They do several songs and then will have deletes. Although Richard has performed the 'missing' song on several live shows through the years. I've never seen recording session files with the title. Paul.

Thanks, Paul. You mean "missing" to be "I Saw What You Did"?

As I rcall, Copyright info. had Seaburn Hunter as co-writer; also recall Richard introducing "Candy Hunter" as a backup player at the Radio City Music Hall, 1975.

Pardon, my "wonderin'", but maybe the above-named tune was cut along with "Call My Name" and "Steal Miss Liza (Steal Liza Jane")?

Holy Mackeral, Beau

Cheers,

Glenn

Hi Glenn and Paul,

If you don't mind me buttin' in, I'll say c. 1975 is the time of activity for this "lost" song - that's the year of Copyright.

Thanks, Beau

Hi Glenn,
It was not 1975 or 1976 that he performed this song on stage. Two instances that come to mind are these shows, seven years apart when he introduced "I Know What You Did (I'll Be Watching You)" as a NEW song. Jan 23, 1999-Grand Casino Avoyelles Mari Center in Marksville, LA. and Oct 5, 2006-New Haven, CT. (Here he sang about half the song and switched to another number).

I'm aware he added the Sting song to his A & R, probably after 1989. Are we still talking about a possible "Rock Dreams" TV Special song? (deleted for the telecast?)

Thanks, Beau

The first I heard LR do his own version of the Sting/Police song "Every Breath You Take (I'll Be Watching You)" was in 1997. I reckon it was part of his set list for much of that year and perhaps sometime into 1998, but he never did it on the 1998 European tour.

Paul, are you referring to Every Breath You Take (I'll Be Watching You) or something completely different?

Cheers,

Glenn

Entirely different song. I'm aware of Sting's "Every Breath You Take" which Richard has performed at several concerts. A sappy ballad that does not fit his reportoire in the least. There were even rumors at one time he recorded it at a session that also produced studio recording of "No Place Like Home"-a brilliant song that he should sing at every concert. Let's hope there's no studio track on "Breath".

I am Seabrun Candy Hunter, And to shed a little light on the songs I collaborated on or co-wrote with Little Richard were Rockin Rockin Boggie, the Hall of fame song, and incidentally I'm the only artist that Richard produced a recording on, Written by me a-side was titled "I Saw What you did" and the b-side was titled "Standing Right Here" both recorded at Pete Drakes recording studio in Nashville about 1974! When I would come to a show and surprise Richard He would always play with me and the audience and tease us by playing the intro to our song "I saw what you did" But it was recorded on me! Richard took care of the copyright so I'm not sure how it was logged,I am seeking info out on those songs. I wrote the lyrics for a song called "Somebody Cares" But sold it for money to finance other music I was creating at that time. During the years I toured with The King Of Rock we would sit around and make up melodies and story lines to songs all of the time so it isn't unusual for you to hear something not recorded by him because he makes them up all day long and can play them at random being a first class pianist. I've Written many songs to be recorded in the near future and one is being displayed on the internet as "I want to be more" (than just your friend)! Since retiring from the road I have combined song writing with God's gift of Poetry and have a series called MIRACLES with Barnes & Noble and so much more has happened to and for me. Google me and see what's new going on! Watch-out I'm still around! Keep me in your Prayers!
